Penobscot River Whitewater Rafting Trips –

North Country Rivers offers daily class 4 whitewater rafting trips on the Penobscot River (May 2 – September 26). No experience necessary and North Country Rivers provides everything. The Penobscot River is a class 4 river (scale of 1-6) and has two class 5 rapids. This “world-class" rafting river is located in north-central Maine – flowing through Baxter State Park and in the shadow Mount Kathadin.

  • 2021 Season: May 2nd through September 26th.
  • Meeting Location: Our Millinocket Base Resort – 102 Baxter Park Rd., Millinocket, ME 04462 (Big Moose Inn, Cabins & Campground).
  • Meeting Time: 9:00 AM (but we recommend checking in 30 minutes early.)
  • River Rating: Class 4 with Some Class 5 Rapids (Rating scale: class 1-6)
  • River Type: Steep overall gradient with “pool and drop" technical rapids.
  • Typical River Flow: 2400 CFS (cubic feet/second).
  • Range of Flows: 1800-3400 CFS.
  • River Length: 12 Miles, 6-hours on the river.

  • High Adventure Sport Rafts: Available.

  • Minimum Reservation Size: 1-person.
  • Minimum Age: 5-years (excludes class 3 – 5 sections), 10-years (excludes class 5 sections), and 12-years (includes all rapids).

Kennebec River Whitewater Rafting Trips –

The Class IV Kennebec River Gorge is by far the most popular whitewater rafting trip in New England. Dam controlled releases guarantee daily whitewater rafting (April 24 – October 11). Big Waves and Big Whitewater guarantee Big Fun! No experience necessary and North Country Rivers provides everything. Great trip for first time rafters, families, youth groups and anyone that wants to have fun on the River!

  • High Water “Turbine Test" (8000 CFS) Dates for 2021 – : June 12; July 5; Sept 11; Sept 25. River Flow -.
  • River Length: 12 miles (4.5 hours on the river).
  • Trip Types: Full River, Ultimate, Turbine Test, Two-Day Trip.
  • High adventure Sport Rafts (Funyaks): Available.
  • River Lunch: Included. Consists of steak, chicken, veggie burgers, salad, desert, beverages.
  • Minimum Age: 5 Years (Lower half only); 8 Years (full river); 12 Years (Turbine Test trips).

Dead River Whitewater Rafting Trips –

The Dead River is the most continuous White Water Rafting River in New England. This incredible class 4 river offers 16 miles with rapids throughout the day. The Dead River flows from Flagstaff Lake and offers 11 rafting releases per year. No experience is necessary and North Country Rivers provides everything. This is truly one of the most unique and exciting rafting trips in America, you have to experience this trip to appreciate rafting in the Maine Wilderness.
